The Kombye gets us...

Off the dating apps and back meeting in person again by using location intelligence to populate highly dense areas for mature Black, professional singles.

Secure Login

Users may use their LinkedIn account to sign in or create a user name and password.  Kombye will send a verification to the user's email to validate the email address.  For users creating an account with an email and password, Kombye will seek additional verification by having users upload their ID and take a selfie photo, but will not store their ID nor personal photo on the app, once the verification is done.

GPS Permission

Once a user logs on successfully, Kombye asks permission to share their location and then populates a heatmap of highly dense areas within a 2-3 mile radius of the user's location, or if the user chosers up to a 10 mile radius.  Users may also see extended areas where singles are populating. Users may also check-in to near by areas as they arrive and this information will help to notify users where other singles are populating.

Discover Popular Events

Using event site APIs and smart SEO/AEO friendly keywords, users will be able to click on the events tab and see a list of happenings that are likely attractive to single, Black professionals.  Premium Users will be able to RSVP to these events, get free or discounted tickets to events held by Kombye, see how many other singles have RSVP'd from the app to listed events and list their own events.

Community Building Challenges

The Kombye App will offer weekly challenges (e.g. Name Your Favorite Black Business), which helps users build community while driving traffic to small businesses.  Users will be encouraged to Like the businesses they've visited.  Results from the challenge will be available to all users.  Premium users will be able to write positive reviews for businesses and see how many men or women visited this business recently, based on likes.

Freemium Model 

The Kombye App will use the freemium model, offering users the ability to use the app without paying but keep certain detailed information in the premium tier, encouraging users to buy a membership.  Memberships will give users area intelligence and give a historical account of a particular area during the week (e.g. 170 men visited DTLA between 5-7, Wednesday and Friday last week), thus increasing the chances of mingling in places that offer high opportunity to meet a companion.  

Safety is our Top Priority 

The Kombye App places safety as our top priority, giving a radius location for gatherings on the heatmaps, rather than precise location.  We also have emergency features, allowing users to shut their location off, stop sharing their location with other users and provide an emergency contact on the app.  We will work with our legal team to continuously roll out new safety features on the app.  Users may see our terms and conditions on the app and have the ability to delete their account, both on the app, and by emailing our admin team.
